Uche Fuels Straightforward Crystal Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Even though entering their first-ever continental adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are learning very quickly. Without key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable result that all but secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another victory in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal direct entry to the knockout stages, especially following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Moment

This occasion offered a platform for some of Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season were outmatched against a largely second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

Dominance Established from the Outset

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton went close soon after, fizzing a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee dismissed the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal man didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's shot had hit the post.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Wraps Up the Game

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
