The Renowned Musician Encourages Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Christmas No 1.

A charity drive is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The effort seeks to provide aid to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely let down if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”

Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.

“It has a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians

The single was laid down after a major charity concert held in late summer. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.

The notable list of artists appearing on Lullaby includes a selection of well-known figures from the music world. All participated in the earlier concert, which managed to collect a considerable total for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was produced by a group of producers and composers. The song blends a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.

The team running the initiative have stated that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These donations will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.

“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”

The situation in the region was noted for its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of property described as destroyed or damaged.

“In that context, a few million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is first of all making this cause better known and showing that another narrative exists.”

The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
