Manchester United Poised to Sign Germany Forward Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants

Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing for prolific German forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move from Bayern Munich.

A Marquee Acquisition for the WSL Side

Schüller, who has six months left on her contract, is known as a prolific goalscorer for both club and country. Having netted over 100 goals for Bayern and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for Germany. This signing will be seen as a marquee signing for the WSL side.

Departure from Munich has been anticipated after she appeared to be fighting back tears while thanking the club's supporters after a victory over Bayer Leverkusen this month.

Reports in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its leading forwards. According to reports, the formalities for the move are now finalised.

Consistent Goalscoring to Boost the Attack

The experienced striker's signing is expected to provide a major uplift to the team's forward line. Schüller has been remarkably consistent with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.

• Over seven consecutive seasons, up to and including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
• She claimed the top scorer award in the 2021-22 season with 16 goals.

The acquisition of the German international coincides with a period when the club seem to be building momentum.

Recent performances feature securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

1. The signing of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
2. The contract extension for Japan playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, a fan favourite since arriving in 2023.
