The Liverpool midfielder has revealed that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the team following the fallout from his televised remarks.
The striker was dropped from a vital match following voicing frustrations and stating his relationship with manager had deteriorated.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Jones insisted that the dressing room atmosphere stayed normal. “He was the exact same Mo, he had a big smile on his face and we all treated him normally,” he continued.
The midfielder also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “I get that there are specific approaches you can handle situations,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just sit out, then I think that’s concerning.”
