Passionate followers of Ariana Grande are calling for that a man who leaped a barricade and grabbed the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good premiere be taken into custody or removed from Singapore.
A widely shared clip depicts the person identified as Johnson Wen bypassing photographers and charging at Grande while the actors walked down a yellow carpet accompanied by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the event by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being detained", though legal records showed that he was due to be present on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was charged.
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram feed contains videos of him disturbing other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last year.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user wrote.
Many followers accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed suffering from PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented one more response on Instagram.
Some supporters also questioned security officers at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals demanded digital services to ban Mr Wen's content.
In videos circulating online, Grande seemed startled when she was approached by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Many of supporters had congregated in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The motion picture, to be released on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a dual adaptation of the acclaimed Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which revolves around the unlikely relationship between two contrasting characters.
The production itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a light pink sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who portrays the villainous character, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning film of 2024 in the UK, and received 10 Academy Award nods, securing a pair for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
