Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing After PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for concerns to be raised about his position after another convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in twelve games, marking the team's poorest run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from above,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to change things and get a victory obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this match yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell like this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And until it is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
